The NYSDOH and NYSED issued a joint statement on August 22, 2022 that schools should follow the CDC’s operational strategies for schools.
The plan outlined here is for the operation of schools in the Rye Neck Union Free School District for the 2022-23 school year. This plan includes procedures that will be followed in all four of our schools: Daniel Warren and F. E. Bellows Elementary Schools, Rye Neck Middle School, and Rye Neck High School.
The health and safety of our students, our staff and their families is our top priority. We want students and employees to feel comfortable and safe returning to school campuses. Our plan incorporates recommendations and guidance from the CDC’s Guidance for COVID-19 Prevention in K-12 Schools and the NYSDOH-NYSED’s What Parents/Caregivers Should Know about COVID Mitigation Strategies and 2022-2023 Frequently Asked Questions related to COVID-19.
Mrs. Mary Ellen Chiera is now the district’s COVID-19 Coordinator. As such, she serves as a central contact for schools and stakeholders, families, staff and other school community members and will ensure the district is in compliance with and following the best practices per state and federal guidelines. Mrs. Chiera can be contacted at (914) 777-5252 or via email (mchiera@ryeneck.org).
