Rye Neck’s Collaborative Science Wing is Open!

After much preparation, patience, excitement, and anticipation, Rye Neck High School’s Collaborative Science (CSC) opened for instruction on Monday, January 31st! As parents dropped off their students for classes, they were able to see bright blue and silver balloons and signs welcoming students to their new “hub” for exploring, experimenting, and learning.

Teachers were excited to greet students into their new classrooms. In fact, many expressed that the day felt like “the first day of a new school year” and that they were “taking classes on a college campus.”

Students who had science class today were given a tour of the new science wing (which takes up two stories!), were reminded of all safety practices, and also resumed their lessons from the previous week.

Our new science wing has eight high school classrooms individually outfitted for biology, chemistry, earth science and physics, plus storage and prep rooms, departmental offices, and flexible hallways with extra collaborative student learning spaces.

This new space also allows students in middle school to have more space for their science classes, and to begin exploring and testing out experiments and hypothesis as they prepare for entering high school
