Middle School Students Design Cover Options for their 2022-2023 Agenda!

Students at Rye Neck Middle School finished working on their cover designs for next year’s 2022-2023 School Agenda. The theme was based on the three words that students had chosen about how they wanted to feel in school: HAPPY, CALM, and MOTIVATED. Students could use all three, just one, or any combination of those words in order to visually depict the theme. They thought about symbols, colors, and compositional space in order to create their cover designs. The high school art teachers narrowed down the results to five finalists: Oleksandra Cheipesh, Hannah Gubitz, Rintaro Takahashi, Malee Valentine, and Wren Zhang. Students then filled out a google form and voted on which cover design was their favorite, without knowing which student created each design!

And the results....

Hannah's artwork was selected as the cover of the 2022-2023 Middle School Agenda! Hannah (pictured center) focused her artwork on the theme of motivation while also including unity and diversity within her work. As Hannah stated, “to portray motivation, I set a diamond on top of a rugged mountain and people reaching for it. To show unity, I showed people helping others to get up the mountain. To show diversity, I made every person a different color.”

It will be exciting to see her artwork on the cover of next year’s agenda!
