For the first time this year, Rye Neck Middle School sixth-graders participated in a “Bagels and Locks” event prior to the official start of the school year. It was designed to help them make a smooth transition into their new school.

“It was a great way for the students to see the building before it got crowded, have their questions answered and get comfortable with their lockers before the first day,” said sixth-grade guidance counselor Meegan Lawlor, who organized the event.

Approximately 110 students, who participated in the event on Aug. 27 and 28, toured their new school, located and organized their new lockers and enjoyed bagels with friends.
