Rye Neck High School students – who are taking Participation in Government and Advanced Placement Environmental Science classes – welcomed Richard O’Rourke, an attorney and Village of Brewster justice, as a special guest to their school on March 22.

During his visit, O’Rourke gave a brief overview of environmental law, discussed the states’ versus the federal government’s role in the area of environmental legislation and answered students’ questions.

“The students recognize the legal and complex issues related to environmental protection laws and the need to balance land development with society’s interest in protecting our air, water, land and animals,” said teacher Karen Parisi, social studies department chair.
